My Approach

A semi-structured, skill-based approach provides the benefits of concrete strategies while also allowing the individual flexibility so we can work on whatever you want. Each time we meet I will teach you a new skill, or we will practice one we have previously learned. I'll also always give you an opportunity to set the agenda for the session and discuss how you've been feeling/what's happened since last session. It's important that at the end of every session we make a plan as to how you will practice some of the coping strategies until next session. All of our work will be rooted in evidenced-based treatment. The primary orientation will be Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, although I also like to use Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy depending on individual needs.
